I am a Certified Birth Doula, Certified Lactation Counselor, Childbirth Educator, and Child Specialist. I have been supporting families from NY and New Jersey since 2013 when I started working at Columbia University Early Head Start. For 6 years I was a doula and educator in their Perinatal Support Program, where we offered bilingual childbirth education classes, parent-infant groups, and doula and lactation support services. In 2019 I started working as a full-time freelancer and with my other project for Spanish speaker clients, DoulasEnEspanol.
I arrived at the Doula world the same way I arrived to NYC, without knowing my entire career was about to change, bringing inspiration and purpose to my life. I became the passionate nerdy about pregnancy and birth I am now.
I am from Barcelona and my background is in mental health; since graduating from college, I worked as a social worker and family therapist in the national health system. When I decided to move to USA, I knew I was going to experience new emotions, overwhelming moments and that I, eventually, was going to become someone different by being out of my comfort zone in almost every single area of my life. And although I had prepared, the experiences and feelings were beyond I could expect. I dare to say parenthood is similar, you can’t really imagine what your life is going to be but you wouldn’t change a single thing.
When I am not supporting families, I like to give long walks alongside the river, read while having a nice coffee, biking, and practice yoga.
